Universal Center for Development (UCD)provides a comprehensive two-year job training programto enhanceacademics, vocational competencies, personal development and life skills of our students.

Programmatic Objectives

  • Academic Prerequisites, Carpentry/Cabinetmaking trade skills, Careerand Personal Development along withlife skills training for at least 200 low-moderate income residents ages 18 and over of the Greater Washington, DC over a two-year period.
  • Assist participants in securing job placementupon program completion.
  • Specialize training for retired seniors to acquire new skills for today's workforce.

  • Level III-Apprentice Program
    The Apprentice Program begins after the completion of the first 12 months.
    The students will tackle job projects from private sector companies.
    The projects will be turned over to students at the earliest stage possible
    and will be handled as if they formally are awarded a contract. Students
    are responsible for their projects. Students who successfully complete the two
    year program will be awarded a certificate of completion.
